Obviously you know what fish are thinking, tell me will my Hippo jump out of my 50 Gallon cube or can I put A naso in there to keep him company LOL

Obviously ...

If you have a hippo in a 50 gal you best be doing some research. That's what I would say. But I wouldn't put it past some people. That's a dumb ass mistake.

I would also agree with you. I wouldn't call it a "dumb ass" mistake and call you out like that, but a Hippo tang isn't going to be happy in a 50 gallon for life. They can grow to be a foot long, and this is where you can chime back in and say "I plan on upgrading" or "I will find a home for him when he outgrows my tank" Not sure where you plan to put the fish later on but it will easily outgrow a 50 gallon. Hell he would be a tight fit in my 220 when full grown with all the rockwork.

But I'm positive jewel doesn't have a hippo in a 50. He's been in the hobby awhile I can't see him doing that. Pretty positive he was just using as an example I wasn't directing the "dumb ass" comment to him. I mean in general, if these were dogs or cats we were talking about people could potentially get jail time for neglecting animals.

A have a good size tang in my 40 gallon breeder frag tank. Never had issues with it trying to jump. Anthias and wrasse are my main culprits.

Stress will kill us all LOL No I don't have a Hippo in a 50 but I've seen one jump out of a 90, not mine but when we put it back in again, it jumped out again right away so I don't think it was just cruising along and went right when it should of gone left. And yes I care that's why I stay away from jumpers. It's ok I've been known as a dumb ass from time to team but I'm not irresponsible with this great hobby. I actually saw a Yellow Tang chase a Sixline until it jumped out of my tank. I have a Rimless tank at present and I'd love to get some Purple Fire Fish but I know they wont last.

I think you could build the frame so it fits around the outside of the tank then the mesh could sit flush on top and the frame would stay in place, might look goddy tho, like a halo

i find having a lid on the tank creates to much light diffusion, ive never tried clear screen but ive seen some and they seem to be ok
another thing to do would be build a canopy around the top, ive heard my wrasse bang into my canopy and fall back into the tank more than once....
