Does anyone really know the legal aspect of bringing fish or coral that has been bought from stores in the states? Is it allowed? I know sea horses seem to be iffy but what about other fish and coral? Was over in Michigan yesterday and stopped at Reef Solutions and they had a nice selection if fish and coral at reasonable prices. I live in Windsor and the lfs here RAPE us silly!

Rule of thumb is just do not deal with bringing things across the boarder other then dry goods when it comes to fish and/or coral. Even if you get the OK from one person in customs, there is no saying what will happen when you get to the guard. Long story short...there are a few people here who have looked into it...and never bought anything because of the legalities.

But then again any coral and most fish could live in a McD's cup for a short while.  ;)  ;)

Some one told me that they have luck when they come thru the border and say that the fish where bred in a tank in the us and the coral was aqua cultured in the us as well and not collected in the wild and he has had no issues. But I know first hand that you have absolutely no rights at the border. I have never been arrested or anything but am covered in tattoos so they love to harass me coming home. Never an issue going to the states. My father is even American born in Detroit so there isn't much they can do unless I had a criminal record. Anyways thanks for the advise I guess I will chance it some time and see. And the McDonald's cups trust me if you get pulled in for inspection I can guarantee they will look in the cup.

LoL ya, McD's thing wad a joke.  I have been through customs search, pretty sure there wasn't an orifice in that car they didn't finger or check.

I know the treatment, my tatoos are hidden, but shaved head and 9/16 holes in my ears...even this pretty innocent face has trouble sometimes.

Reef Solutions is very pricey, and often disappointing.  Much better when Chris and Shannon owned it.....
Check out Pet Connection, Five Mile and Middlebelt in Livonia., and just use common sense! :?
