120w. Yet it has 55 3 w LEDs?
Not sure I like people who can't do math.

These have been brought up here before.  In fact I think some one bought on on here.

There are better ones for cheaper out there. Waiting for jerry_doucette to chime in as he has a similar yet better LED set up. I believe Pulp has the same type LED light and was able to purchase for cheaper as well. I am sure they will have good links for you. As well, they are here somewhere.

Been seeing a lot of people recommending this fixture. I have no comment on it however as mine is just the blue white fixture.

In the link you sent it looks like they are advertising it at 1:1 ratio for blues and whites but the picture shows otherwise. I do wish that my light have more blue and less white as when the whites come on they overpower the blue.

I don't think my whites are 10k either as they look kinda yellow.

Ill dig up the link of the unit I have.

They are 3w rated at 1A I believe, but are not being supplied a full amp thus making them not 3w. And more like 2.25w.

This is just what I think.

The current they are running them at is what will determine the wattage (P=V*I). To increase the longevity of the LEDs they will usually run them lower then what their rated. For example cree had "3w" LEDs that they now say can be run at "5w" yet their still the same LED. They just decided their efficient to run at a higher current. So this is why you generally see fixtures have 3w LEDs but have a different total wattage.

As for the fixture, I think you will do better with the one jerry posted. They use a lot of bridgelux LEDs spaced really close together and have a full spectrum of colours. Some people shy away from the other colours but they really make certain corals pop and help with growth.

I would say that is a good price to light your tank. LEDs are still new so growth really hasn't been documented well. If you are looking for something that will grow softies and lps I think you would be fine using these fixtures.

personally i think they have been documented to hell, the big thing these days are more powerful hardware coming out all the time and fast, making 1 and 3 watt so affordable i don't know why everyone isn't running them in some form or another.a simple google search turns up millions of hits on them

You guys have me stoked!  The plan was to order in December, but I am not sure I can wait.

I am just wondering if I can get away with 2 55light units on my 75G....lots of nooks and crannies in there and I don't want to have major dark spots...and I want to keep my hood - max interior height is 10" off of water.

Can't believe that these are selling under $200 per unit shipped now!

thoughts anyone?
i came across these from someone who bought some frags today, she mentioned that she had 8? of these over her 300gallon reef tank... paid less than 1000$ for all 8....

Hey Brandon, can you check with your customer and see if these units are dimmable?  If I can dim blue and white separately, I think I am in!  (I will ask through the web site too.....just can't stop thinking of these lights)

Might want to check out the kit on Rapid led too, No experience with the other but pretty happy with the crees from rapid.
$475 for a 75g kit, Includes dimmable drivers as well as a couple different colour leds (can be customized at time of order if you choose), also for $20 more you can go solderless allowing easy install and easy change of burnt out led's in the future.

Also been looking at these kits.. Not sure of anyone running them tho. But to me it just doesn't seem like 48 would be enough?

I got 24 on my biocube with no optics, no problems, running the whites about 60% super bright. Haven't noticed any decline in growth since switching over but I don't really have sps other than a few easy to keep ones.

According to the info given to me by rapid led when I emailed about the LEDs. 24 is supposed to = similar light output of a 250w halide. True or not I dunno.
