LED guard material

Hi guys,

Currently my LEDs don't have anything protecting them from splashes.  Quite a few of them are out near where I feed my fish.

Is lexan okay to use underneath them?  Or acrylic?  Is there even a difference? Will the LEDS make either discolour or warp?

Anyone know where to buy it cheap?  I don't want to spend $150 to cover them.

I don't think that glass is an option, because I have to make cut outs in it for return piping, feeding holes, etc.

Thanks

I just used acrylic sheets I had sitting around.  it doesn't have to be thick at all so even the cheapy sheets from home depot work.

+1 for acrylic or whatever is cheaper. No glass. It can crack easier from heat or handling and you don't want that.

Time ago, our armi surplus store here in London had acrylic for sale. Soldout. You may try something similar in your area.

Thanks Guys.

I'll take a closer look at Lowes and HD.  So far the cheapest option looks like $70 to cover a 72"x24".

+1 to what boga said, try a surplus store, the one here in KW has a bunch of different pieces of acrylic, some of which I used for baffles in my sump.
