It is with a very heavy heart that I write this post
As some know already I have been battling through some sort of disease in my tank. I have lost multiple frags  and colonies over the past few months and could never nail down exactly what the problem was. I simplified my tank to the bare essential and it kept happening. I was pretty convinced someone was poisoning my tank but knew that could not be the case

About 5 days ago things took a turn for the worse and happened very quickly

I am dealing with some sort of infection it is killing all types of coral in my tank. My torch, acans, SPS  , chalice (lesser extent) plating monties and digi. I have never seen anything like this in all my experience in this hobby

RIP
Rocket pop
Setosa colony
Hawkins
Red planet
Strawberry shortcake
palmers
avenger
limeaide
red diablo
purple dragon
many millis
The list goes on

I thank all that have helped me over the years, this and other forums really helped me almost grow out a beautiful tank. I was so close this time ! Could never have done it without the help of many very kind and generous people I have met

Thanks again

Dwayne

That just straight up sucks Dwayne, sorry to hear about the strange die off.  I do think you had an amazing fairly mature tank that would be the envy of almost anyone in this hobby.  It was a pleasure to witness in its prime when i saw it last,  the colours were extemely nice.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, I am sure you will be back with a vengeance before you know it.

This is such a challenging hobby and we all have admired your success over the years. A good time to regroup and think about your next approach.

Hang in there..

Damn!!! sorry to hear about this Dwayne. Very disheartening. I never got a chance to see your tank in person but judging by all your pics it looked spectacular!! Did you ever try running a UV sterilizer at all out of curiosity? That is quite the list of corals and you have accomplished a lot with your setup. One of the nicest SPS tanks around! Best of luck!

Sorry to hear this Dwayne.  Sounds like a very strange set of circumstances.  I only got out to see your system once, and your frag tank at the time was incredible, let alone your display.

Kind words everyone, thank you.
At this point I dont even like to go into my living room, its hard to watch this tank slowly dieing in front of my eyes.
Fish and Inverts look fine and are eating normally. Will let it run its course and see if anything survives. You have to assume some things will make it, the hardiest ones perhaps.
We will see shortly as its happening very rapidly from right to left. It is actually "jumping" from coral to coral

Sorry to ask because i know this sucks but can you describe how the sps, specifically acros are dying? Do they seems faded in colour and then stn from base up? Also, do you notice any nuissance algae or cyano in your tank? P04 reading? Are corals going brown or white when dying?

Thanks and sorry again.

An interesting development when I arrived home today

Unexpected and sudden fish death

Male Flame wrasse
Flame angel
anthias x 3

Very odd. I inspected the bodies, they are fat and have no marks on them. Froze them incase, well I dont know why I froze them
Some odd behaviour from other surviving fish. They are vertical and wedging themselves in rock spaces.

SPS continue to RTN, flesh stripping from the coral skeleton below.

One Acan started to wither but has stopped

One Scolly is now melting away from the inside out, its toast

Nepthea that was almost as tall as the tank itself is now a puddle in the back right corner

I changed carbon and did a 60g water change in 20g increments over the last 6 hours

if your fish are starting to drop maybe there are ammonia or high nitrate issues??

At least you froze your fish, they will last longer that way, hope things improve with the water change.
Can you just start moving stuff out to another tank with live rock?

Damn!!! I would suspect it's from ammonia or high nitrates from the coral die off. Ammonia sounds like the culpret though just from how many have died in such a short amount of time. This is a very depressing thread! So much nice livestock taking a turn for the worse...
