Researching lighting for new build, does anyone run Kessil lighting? I looked at the smaller pucks, but would rather just 2 of the ap9x units. Otherwise Ecotech 15 blues 4 of them or RedSea 90 4 of them.

Thoughts?

I’ve used kessils for years and if I could go back I’d switch brands , but they were the tuna blueS when the light works , they are great but idk , sometimes smeller isn’t always better (I’ve had 2 kessils burn out) they tend to have chip problems imo

I currently bought an older set of AI and have a few boxes of puck replacements and with some t5 action in there I’m sure I’ll be fine for years , but would go ecotech personally

I had read that about some of the Kessils, that is burn out shortly after the 2 year warranty. I have a couple Hydra 52hd units now, but would need another 2 for the new tank, so figure why not try something else. I did like the shimmer from the Ecotech units, the 4 15's would provide more than enough oar for my needs. The tank is a red sea 750 XXL.

Yeah I just never had luck with kessils , I always cleaned them properly and had a lid on the tank so never had water damage or salt creep 1 went 4 months after warranty and my other 3 days after warranty

Ouch, that hurts. Looks like Ecotech then as I really didn't want to try Red Sea lights yet, have to see longevity

Same with everything now, the wastegate went on my turbo and the dealer wants to replace the whole unit when you can actually just replace that. Sign of the times, cheaper assemblies and a throw away society.

My first led was the radion and ill never look at another. Not 1 issue with any of them and I've had every Gen. My buddy is still rocking the Gen 1 and his sps are going strong.

4 of the G5 blue it shall be. How to mount them will be next, no way am I buying 4 tank mounts and I don't like that look. Hanging kit with rails perhaps.

You could look at a T5 hybrid and get the best of both worlds. I'm running the Aquatic life with radions and absolutely love it, they come with brackets and if need be you can buy more individually. Definitely more $ but worth it. Giesemann makes a nice hybrid as well.

I'm just not a fan of Aquatic Life, if I had to run T5 and led then I may as well go back to the ATI T5. I don't do sticks, only softies, hence the need for just the Ecotech 15 model, no point paying for par I will never require.
