These are really cool! However, I have to ask.... once they hatch, WHAT THE HECK DO YOU DO WITH THEM??????

+1

When I had mine in the 200gal years ago everything picked on it and stole its food so I had to move everything else out...then it started to grow FAST really shouldn't have bought it, just another of the lessons that I learned the hard way...went back to Big Al's.

However a buddy of mine just built a pond in his basement to house a Ray...Very cool and definitely the right way to do it.

What tank mates did you have with your shark?

That doesn't happen to be the same shark they keep in the big display tank at the back of the store, is it?

No, it was a banded cat shark and it went back to the Big Al's in Missassauga back when they were in the strip mall closer to Dixie road.

Oh and in the tank were an Emperor Angel that just attacked it, a Clown Trigger that chased and harassed it, and a Black edged Moray that stole its food.  The Moorish Idols also picked at it when it sat still.

Looking good.  I'm a little confused though.  I read on your first post that it would be 2 months before the egg hatches but now you think it might be the beginning of July.  Is the gestation closer to 3 months then?  I think that's why you have been getting a few posts hoping it will hatch soon since it has now been 9 weeks.  Will you be able to tell if they are male and female when they hatch?  Are there any distinguishing marks for you to be able to tell?

Sorry about that. My first post was a typo.  I meant 3mths rather than 2mtha but then judging from my buddy's egg when he got it, mine was a lot younger so i now think its closer to 3 1/2 months.  Once the eggs are laid they should hatch within 4-6 months.
I should be able to tell the sex when they are born. I believe they have claspers like rays do.

i lost mine.  he was all fine one day, moving around in the egg.  came home the next day and it looked as if he had exploded. just a mess of rotten shark.

i did some reading and it is most likely due to a tear in the egg.  if it gets any air in it this is what happens.
i would cut yours out at this point, just to be safe.
wish i had of.
