Just wondering if there is a huge difference between instant ocean and other salt mixes. I was thinking of buying IO reef crystals. I have read the argument going both ways on different websites. Just wanted to get your opinions.
Thanks

I guess it really depends on your needs level wise first. I have used primarily IO for a long time with 0 issues. I recently switched to RC recently as that is all that is available in buckets locally for me. I have read good reviews on other manufactures, however I am still comfortable using the stuff.

I've gone through a ton of the different brands, to be honest, I didn't see much difference, except having to change your dosing schedule.  I went to RC for the 'higher' numbers, but I think Darryl still uses regular IO.

I will say however, without a doubt, when I keep a good water change schedule, coral growth is greatly enhanced.  When I slack, so do the corals.  I use my BB now to nag me on water changes, and media swap-out.

Im thinking of going with D-D. Its slightly more expensive, but the parameters seem allot better. For 20$ more than RC I see it worth it.
Thoughts?

I use Reef Crystals and have never had a problem with it. The way I figure IO has been around for years and has the majority of the market so why not stick with it. Also, come boxing day, you can pick up your entire years worth of salt for dirt cheap between IA, Big Als, Royal Aquariums, etc.

I have to admit I used almost every brand I could get my hands on.  RC has had the best results, I'll likely stick with it.

D&D by H20 would be my 1st choice but it's pricey, I think 80 bucks a bucket I like the fact that the Mag is highbut you know Instant Ocean Reef Crystal is a good brand too.
