Ok the chances of this being a dynasty club are being kissed away. My bad
Worded much better....
But I guess that could be said of Boston also... Do they not have super talent??
And yes, I am a life long Wings fan, and do see hope for the future of the club with the display of young talent this year. But i'd hardly want to say there is chance of them being a dynasty club. They were, now they aren't the same team....
When they produce consistently year to year, and bring home Stanley, i'll start to use the word Dynasty again...

Boston doesn't really have super talent, there's no 'superstar' on the team, Bergeron would be the closest to a 'star' player. Boston has watched the wings for a long time, they talked about it at one point, and they put a lot of time and effort into building 3rd and 4th lines. Boston has depth, not stars. Stars get knocked down and out, so you need the rest of the team to step up (as the wings have done). The other thing the redwings don't do is fire everyone when they have a bad stretch. They make small changes and continue on. Same with Boston, they will make some changes, analyze what went wrong and we'll plug ahead next year. Even Chara isn't a 'star' although he is likely the toughest person to replace on our team (who else can play the entire blue line on a power play?). The habs series could have gone either way, even hab fans know it. That's what makes it a palpable loss. If it was a 4 game blowout then we would have problems, but it wasn't. We need to fix something, but not something huge.
Obviously I've never been a fan of the 'star' player and firing the shit out of the team because the newspapers say to. When crosby was hurt last year, malkin stepped up big time but the team sort of sucked when crosby returned. Mats sundin was the same way, he was THE guy on the ice but they played better when he wasn't there (even though he was a point-a-game player). I almost think the capitals would be a far better team without ovechkin hogging all the ice time and all the plays. A lot of teams seem to rely on the superstar, ever since the Gretzky days, but without enforcers, your stars can't shine on the ice. Imagine what crosby could do if he had his wish and nobody could even breathe on him when he had the puck?
(just personal opinion of course)
