Pat I don't think they will change much, they will do a lot of analyzing of course, but it was luck of the draw to get montreal this yeah, hell half way through I didn't even think they would make postseason (they were behind the LEAFS for gosh sakes!).  Probably a few new faces, but the core team will remain, including Looch, CHARA and Marchand :)

Wish I could say the same for The Burgh, it's so up in the air what's going to happen to this team. Obviously Crosby and Malkin are staying but other then that and a few other forwards and D. The rest will be a whole new gang, unfortunetly.
Might be a good thing, a little more chemistry for the team, they need to stop relying so much on Crosby.  Malkin played great last year when crosby was hurt.... maybe split those two up?
Negative, build the team around them both. Malkin said if he can't play for Pittsburgh he's off to the KHL. Which to me speaks volume of his dedication to the organization. honestly be a big mistake letting both go. They would never make up for that. EVER

As much as I like Letang and Fleury, they both would make huge room if they were baited out to see what we could get. Only problem is reading Fleury were not left with much Halak, Hillier  and Miller. Which are older version of Fleury and not as good save %.

Coach for sure gone. I'll take Mike Babcock, Crosby and him are tight. And some wingers and D. So much that has to happen with this team. Either that or leave em the way they are. The thought of that huge game 7 loss may light a fire under there butts next season for some redemption.

Only way Babcock moves...If Illitch (owner) dies.. unfortunately this isn't out of the realm of possibilities..
Don't think this will happen in the time frame required for the Penguins.
And if it were to happen...  ughhhh... no it won't...nevermind..

Babcock has 1 year left on his current contract, and it wouldn't be the first time a coach was offered a spot and exited out early on his prior. penguins dynasty of the wings .. Hmmmmm easy choice for a coach.

Well word from the penguins keeners is a new coach is a comin, and why not Mike Babcock, I'm sure he would love a for sure 7 year run to the cup either that or a Detroit team that needs some serious work. No offence to the wings fans

Heh I just meant keep them on separate lines, not split them out of the team.  Crazy to move either one.  Crosby won't move until his twilight years when he's after another cup.

Lacks the physical toughness to be a winger? That's a joke right? He's one of the hardest to knock off a puck and one of the toughest at getting puck possession.

I can tell you his face off skills are not top of his game, he'd be better off on a wing.

Penguins Dynasty? Is that a joke :)

Lets be serious here.  Wings were plagued by injuries this year, they are by no means a team you can count out of being a contender.  Are they on the same level as the pens right now? No, probably not, but the difference between the two teams isn't that great IMO.  Standings proved otherwise, but the wings injuries were devastating, so I don't really use that as a measuring tool.

With the young talent playing for Detroit it is a very exciting time to be a wings fan.  Babcock knows what kind of farm/scouting system Detroit has (it was proven again this year through Nyquist, Helm ect)... and as mentioned with illitch owning the team, it is a winning culture in Detroit and Mikey know this.  The grass isn't always greener on the other side and Babcock would probably rather coach/teach a group of inexperienced young guys, then a bunch of hyped up bums on the pens (OK, they are not bums, but my point is still valid).

I really don't see Babcock jumping ship on a good, potentially great upcoming team just to potentially have a shot with the pens (far from a guarantee with that current roster).  Again, the grass in not always greener on the other side, and Mike knows this.

Keep dreaming, but he is not going anywhere, you can't BUY Mike Babcock.

Ya it's dynasty with the two of the best players in the league. Detroit is in a transitional phase ever since Lindstrom left.

Pittsburgh is feasible, but it’s instructive to know that he and Red Wings general manager Ken Holland both agreed to put off any talks of a contract extension after Detroit was eliminated from the playoffs last month..

In only going with the word on the street.

Crobsy and Malkin are in their prime years, Mario wants to win cups now while those 2 are still in great shape for that.'dramatic moves are called for, and if Penguins offer Mike more money then I bet 100% he will take it.

I don't take putting off the talk as a sign of trouble (business as usual with the wings), but the media will turn it into something.  You don't automatically have a dynasty just because you have two of the better (not the best) players, dynasty is a label that is earned, not given.

Hear hear...  A dynasty would be  more palatable let's say... Playoffs 23 years in a row...

I disagree.  I don't see babcock as a money horror.

Doesn't matter what you wings fans think, this team is a dynasty, with it's best years being pissed away with a shitty build around their star players. Of course a fan from another hockey club will disagree with me, and then say his clubs a dynasty. With two washed up bums like Zetterburg ( out most of the year ), and Pavel ( great player, not as effective as he once was, also out most the year) y

I think Pat you need to look up the definition of dynasty. Because a dynasty the Penguins are not.

Wings cup wins:

97
98
02
08
(appearance in 09 losing to the pens)

Now that is a modern day dynasty. In 11 years going to the final dance FIVE times and winning it FOUR. With much of the same team intact. Not to mention lets toss in their 23 season playoff streak.... That is retarded.... And that is not going to be touched for quite some time to come....

I don't even like the wings, (as they were perennial pests to the sharks till they moved this year to the east) but that is what you would call a dynasty. Making a full impact and leaving a mark for people to see.

The pens have been to the Stanley cup playoffs 4 times and have won it 3, but the first two (91 & 92) were with an entirely different team than who won it in 09. I hardly call the pens a "Dynasty" at this point. Thier cup wins came 17 years apart.

Now this isn't to diss the pens, they have a slick team which MANY of the players I would gladly see wear the Sharks jersey, but in terms of dynasty? No, I must disagree.....

Simply having two of the best forwards in the game today doesn't automatically qualify you for that status. You need results.
