I was going to download BF4, but they want FULL PRICE    PLUS    TAX.    So like $80 or something.  For that, I'll go buy a real version on a dvd.  You would think that if they were saving not having to produce, shit and profitize the dvds they would take some money off... and I don't remember paying tax before on a digital download.

I'm way over their recommended stats: 2x GTX 650Ti, 16GB, i7, SSD game drive, I think I would be fine :)

BF4 is awesome (however already filled with glitchers and hackers), and the leafs are beginning their annual slide into obscurity.  All is well with the world.

Anyone have a PS4 pre ordered?

I have been scouring kijiji for someone who needs to back out of theirs but insanity has kicked in and people are asking a small ransom for their pre ordered units.

The market died? Lol.

Discmans and portable cd players were all the rage in the early 90's as copying cd's was a big thing and home cd burners were becoming more and more common throughout the mid 90's. Mp3's were available and everyone had some sort of dedicated portable music player it seemed.

Sony made Mini Discs shortly after the release of MP3's. The MD market was good in Asia, but dedicated MP3 players hit the market soon afterwards making MD's obsolete really quickly. Why bother with removable storage like MD's when an MP3 player can be an all in one unit?

Then iPods hit the scene and the portable music market has been under a death grip pretty much since then. (lets not forget Microsoft's Zune that was born and died somewhere in the late 90's/early 2000's somewhere in there as well)

Now every smartphone pretty much has internal removable storage and we can all play music on our cell phones.

sony also was its own worst enemy when it came to media.  The betamax was a superior product, but the way sony protected it, and wanted $$$ for every beta cassette produced, ensured its failure against the VHS that you could make royalty-free.  I do believe there was something similar in the DAT tape, the minidisc and a few other failed proprietary formats (I can't recall them anymore but I used to follow the successes and failures of sony).    Ironic when they make such good money off of consoles...something they copied from other companies.

As for the walkman, they -should- have had the first and best MP3 player on the market, but if I had to bet, it would have been the inherent copy-ability of mp3s that would have put them off.  "how do you copyright something that has to be copied to exist?".

Dor the record, I loved my 20lb, shoulder sling, 4 battery sony walkman.  I was sorry when it died, but akai came along and made a lighter one with a built in slider EQ.  Awesome.

Re: HOCKEY talk & video games too.

I was very close to ore ordering a ps4....but the main thing I use the ps3 for is streaming my collection of movies from my computer to the tv.  Very simple thing that you would assume the pa4 would do..... Wrong...  It does not play mp3 or support the dlna protocol for streaming video.    That's ok though they supply you with 11 different pay to use streaming apps like Netflix and Hulu and whatever's else lol.

I will not be buying a ps4 until they fix it.

hate is a horrible word.  You should try to expand your vocabulary with more positive words.

To be perfectly honest with you, I couldn't give a rats ass about the olympics, all I know is that every 4 years my hockey gets interrupted with slaloms and figure skating and some hockey games that don't mean anything.  Stamkos was on the team that is leading the east, so I'm glad he's out.  I would be happy if  kane gets a broken neck, and I don't even know if he's in the olympics.  I'm definitely glad that it wasn't a bruins hit that did it, but just the fact that he doesn't know how to skate and likes to rush the goalie.

So there.

I didn't see any of the game.  Was is a holiday down there yesterday?  I thought I was going to watch the game at 7pm, and suddenly I'm seeing shutout notices... it was weird.

He still should learn to skate, those posts hurt.

Backwards compatibility is not a feature that is an inherent right with new console owners. It would be nice, but would just cause more issues than it is worth. If anyone remembers the old 60 gig PS3's and the slew of issues they had with playing PS2 games? Trying to run older games on new hardware simply limits the new consoles ability to process new software as it would merely be a "upgraded" hardware that can still run old games but still run new games somehow. It is a logistical mess that isn't that big of a deal.

My Gamecube wasn't backwards compatible with my NES, N64, or SNES etc... Stop your whining. If that is the only reason holding you back then that is pretty weak excuse.

Buying a new next gen console, is to play new games on new hardware, not for playing older games. You can plug your PS3 or xbox 360 back in at any time and run it. It is two cords. One power, one HDMI. Not that big of a deal to have to haul it back out to play the games you own on 360 if you want to play them that badly. And that being said you can just leave it plugged in if you would find yourself playing it that much in the first place. I have no idea how that makes your collection obsolete by any stretch of the imagination. Having two consoles on your tv stand cannot be as horrendous as you make it out to be... By your definition it is also fricken stupid that I cannot play 360 games on my PS3. Such bullshit that I need to have two consoles to be able to play the exclusive titles for each.... ZOMG, my life is over.....
