Did you rinse that "clean" sand before putting it in your tank? If its from another tank and not rinsed, that could be the start to a very big problem.

To be totally honest, personally, I would take out whatever used sand I  had in there and use new. But even before that, I would hook up the whole system tank, sump, return.

Take the old sand out and water. Test run the plumbing and returns with freshwater. if alls good, add new sand, fill up with saltwater and run. Add whatever rock and turn on the skimmer and run gfo. Don't add anything, run for 4-5 weeks and test.

Having your skimmer in that tank half filled water and quarter sand, not going to last, will kill that pump. In that picture that water looks pretty green, I don't know if you even want to start a tank with that, my guess its because of the old sand, but the levels in that water must be through the roof.

Honestly, I would remove the sand and use some Seaflor Special Grade. That is some mighty fine sand which will cause you issues down the road. Clowns, gobies, etc will constantly be kicking it up on you. If you start getting cyano at any point, it is all most impossible to manually remove it with such fine sand. Just my two cents.

+1
I used old sand in my dt , and even though I washed it for hours and made sure it was 'clean' I don't think I would do it again,
I have cyano issues and diatoms still after a year almost of being setup and I blame that in part on the used sand.

That being said, it's doable, but don't expect premium results.

I mixed dry crushed argonite with sugar fine established sand outta a super clean tank , opted for a mix due to research stating that its prefferd .
I did not rinse the sugar sand thinking it would remove some beneficial bacteria .

I was in a hurry to set this up to house some new fish before deer hunting but they are doing great in my sump in my established setup .

Gonna wait n find some dry rock close and hopefully on sale .

Tank is crystal clear and sand is "sticky" so to speak with beneficial bact.
