:poop:

My sailfin tang is just freaking out this morning. He is literally trying to jump out of the tank He has never been a jumper before. He hit the light a couple times and then made it out onto the floor where I picked him up and put him back in. He looks like poop. Should I check for amonia? is it the microbubbles.? What causes a fish to start freaking and jumping.

This sucks. he was fine and eating.

I doubt the micro bubbles would have anything to do with it. I went on vacation once and my ATO malfunctioned. The pump was blasting bubbles in the water like crazy and I had no casualties after days of being like that.

I would definitely check out nitrates and ammonia levels.

As for the micro bubbles, can you put the pump into that large area on the left of your sump and plumb it right into your tank there? Running it as an internal pump. Split the drain line from your tank into the skimmer area in the middle and to your fuge on the right. There should then be enough baffles to rid yourself completely of the micro bubbles.

Umm, odd question, but didnt you just start this tank a week or so ago?

ya but she moved all the stuff over from her 90g i believe

90 to a 220 is a lot of new water. Tank could be cycling again.

I was just about to say that....
Also, a move just to another 90 can easily cause a cycle.....

This doesn't always go over smoothly , you know first hand there can be lots of issues. Was the same sand used ? How much water from the original tank was used ? Same rock ? Was more rock added. I'll take a shot in the dark and say it was way to soon to add fish ...

Unfortunately, does sound like the tank has started cycling causing ammonia likely and now fish are unhappy.....this would explain why they just started acting weird....what other fish and specimens are in there? How they doing?

I'm sorry guys. I forgot to click the notify me button.

The Sailfin jump out again. I put him back in but he just keeled over. He is dead. I tried to put him in the sump but it was too late.  :'(

I used all my water, rock and sand. I also had the tank set up with the live sand and the majority of the sand for almost two weeks before adding the fish. What I would do is ever day take 1-2 buckets of the fish water out and replace it with 1-2 buckets of the new tank. sounds confusing but kinda like an in tank acclimation.

I really did try to do it the best I could. I unplugged my new heater and my powerheads. Hooked my old heater up to my reef keeper now that my sump is running. I don't know if there could be stray voltage from a pump not in The water. nothing else is plugged in.

I am not getting any reading of amonia ire notate. I don't trust my kit tho so I Will take some into sealife tomorrow. I also need to buy salt so I can't do a water change till tomorrow.

My hippo tang is acting funny. hiding a lot today. if someone local wants to keep him for awhile I can try to get him out. I know getting him back is a long shot but I don't want to see him die. if he gets worse I Will maybe try to take him to sealife. The clowns appear fine.

I really did try to do everything right. This is a very sad day as he looked fine.  I had him for a long time. I am very upset with myself for moving them when they were fine in the 90. I thought I was doing a good thing for them. I wish I never set up this new tank.

Hey guys. My Hippo tang is not eating tonight. I put some stuff in to eliminate the ammonia. But It looks like some sort of cycle. It shouldn't of happened other than my 90g tank water had high nitrates and maybe i shouldn't of used any of that water. I didnt know.

I did not add any new LR ( I had over 100lbs). I didn't add any livestock. not even a snail. I added 120lbs new sand and graped 6 cups of sand from my deep sandbed.  Which Gary thinks i distubed and I shouldn't have. Makes sense.

For now its trying to get the water better. I hope this stuff I got works and works quicker then its up to my new skimmer and water changes. If he isn't any better by tomorrow morning I will put him up for rescue.

I swear no fish for 6 months  :?
