Heaters.... Suggestions

I bought a blue line heater from ORG a few years back and has worked flawlessly in my tank till yesterday when apex told me temp was below 75.... So power amps were at 2 vs 5 so seemed to me it was the heater...

It was a titanium heater.... Thought these guys were supposed to last years... Is that the consensus on the forum that heaters only last a year or two?

Picked up a 250w one at aquariums by design yesterday but that isn't the long term solution with 200 gals of water...

Is titanium the way to go? Thoughts on brand... Reading reviews on BRS seems to be that some titaniums rod sets are causing voltage leaks which would suck !

Titanium or not .. there is a still a heating element in the heater... all you have changed is the shell as far as I know. Tough as hell against breakage but I wouldn.t expect much more longevity against failure of the insternals.

I just run the cheap POS from local fish stores, Fauna marine or Marineland, what ever it was. I run 3 of them though, so if one fails ON, then the others can shut off or stay on if one fails OFF. I check on them now and then, but they are the same heaters I have had for years now. They all run through my Apex, a controller will definitely save your aquarium from a heater failure. Failures are very random from brand to brand, just like a doser. But when they fail...they fail big.

The biggest failure with heaters is the thermostat, so if you have a controller get the ones that don't have thermostats in them.
I converted to hot water heat and am saving @ $40 a month in hydro with no noticeable increase in gas bill,

I just bought a 300 w EHEIM Jager, so far so good. it has a stand/legs. its going in the new tank and with the tang being mainly tangs I went with some a bit more stable. works like a charm

I have two 500 watt titaniums, my previous heater was also titanium and lasted me from the start of my hobby to now without failure (it still works). I purchased two 500 watt heaters for the new setup but in reality only one of them is functional as the setpoints for the second unit are wider apart than the first unit. By doing this I am assured that if one heater fails or struggles to maintain the temp the second will come in to save the day without a temp crash. This is probably the least costly area to establish redundancy, so my advice is grab two heaters, as all equipment will eventually fail.

Also two years life expectancy is too short, look into the warranty if you can.

Hot water heat... can you explain how this would work in an aquarium? I am a heating and cooling guy so if I heard how it's done, I could probably rig up what is needed.
