Question guys...
I have a fluval 300w heater being controlled by my RKL. I have the RKL set to turn heater on till temp reaches 79 degrees +/- .5.
My question is do I still keep the heater set at 79 ? Should I be using a heater without a thermostat in it ? How does everyone have there heaters / controller setup ?

I dont have a controller but i would imagine that you would set your heater just above you desired temp. what happens if you controller fails. set to high and it would cook your tank. just my 2 cents

I have mine set for 85, controlled with apex to keep temp between 78-79. Also have an additional fan pointing just below my lights if temp hits 79.5, lights shut off at 82.

Im thinking of changing out the 300w for 2 150w ebo jagers. I will then set them at around 81-82 with my controller set at 79 +/- .5 degrees.
Make sense ?
