Have You Ever Done This/what Would You Do.

Ok, so here is my dilemma, bought a 75 gal tank, plan was that it was going to a coral tank. Added the water and everything was fine, added the salt and wola, it leaks. It is just a small leak at the front.
I did get a lead (from another member) on another 75 gal tank, it is not drilled. Drilling the tank doesn't bother me but, has anyone ever replaced their overflow box and did you make your own or where did you buy it.. or
should I try and re-seal the tank, I have never done either and to be honest, re-sealing the tank is scares the hell out of me..

Depending on the age and condition of the replacement tank would determine if I would replace it or reseal it. Resealing a tank is a PITA if you ask me.

Personally for the cost of a brand new 75 I would just go to big als and buy one. I think anything under a 90 gallon are fairly cheap new. Sealing a tank properly (something I have never done) requires tanking the entire tank apart by the seams scraping all the old silicone off and using alcohol to clean the glass then resealing.

London (Dorchester) is having there club auction today. They usually have a brand new 55 gallon as a raffle.

Go see if they have a large tank, I'm pretty sure they won't because of auction rules. But you could always buy 50 dollars worth of raffle tickets and cross your fingers or go to BA's and buy a tank.

Unless you have your heart set on a 75. The 55 has the same foot print only low profile better for corals.

You're thinking of a 65gal, not a 55. 75 is 48"X18"X20" 65is 48"X18X18 and a 90 is 48X18X24

I would also buy a new tank as well.

A leaky tank, O No, It's hell to fix like Eric said. Replacing it would be a better opotion, You can buy over flows on line, BRS, sells them I think, Reefsupplies maybe, Maybe contact Aaron at Big Als in London, He'd know for sure.

I installed the one in your other tank. It isn't hard at all, just a quick silicone job with a few weights and wedges to hold it in place while it dried. I had pulled 2 from an older tank. @J_T could probably bend one out for you.

thanks guys for all of the options.. I am now thinking that this is something that I can do..the overflows don't need bulk heads, I would drill the tank to add them..thanks Torx..

I have a new mega flow corner overflow. They just need to be cut to to the right height for your tank and siliconed in...anyone can do...

best thing would be to see it full before you spend your money,next best thing would be to fill and test it before you use salt water

The tank is usually the cheapest part of a setup.

I would always buy new if I had the money. Especially if I was going to put hundreds of $$ of corals in it.

buy another and smash the old one for leaking got to teach it a lesson and make sure the other tanks are watching
