So i'm setting up a new tank pretty soon 75g, with all the new gear purchases funds are getting low  :?

Here is the situation, i'm pretty much set for everything except for lighting.
I have a line one a used T5 6 bulb (3 - Foot) fixture fairly cheap.

Wondering if it would be a bad idea running a 3 foot fixture over a 4 foot tank temporarily.
I plan on buying a kit from rapid led, but $ wise it's going to be a while before I can order that. I'm pretty confident I could flip the T5 light and not take a major loss on it.  The corals I currently have are nothing major, couple birds nests, one milli frag, LPS.

Just looking for some thoughts.

you should be fine with that I have a 4foot 90 gallon with 3 foot t5 fixture on it my tank looks like it has more depth to it now cause the shadows I really like it plus u can put low light coral higher up in you tank as long as there off to the sides and just keep any high light coral in the middle it will work out fine

I agree, I keep softies off to the sides because there is a little less light there.  I have a torch that's just thriving way down at the back along the side.

Sounds cool, one more question..
Is this fixture a tek?

Looks like one but has a couple things that make it not look the same to new units. Maybe it's an older model or something? Just don't want to be paying for junk ya know :)

i just spent the last 15 minutes googling... couldnt find any tek lights that look like that.

i ran a 4ft 6 bulb "tek" fixture on my 5ft tank with no problems.  everything was well lit.
