Created by Tokyo-based designer Daisuke Akiyama, this packaging concept effectively turns the small air pockets of plastic bubble wrap into miniature fish bowls. Akiyama says the novel idea is an attempt to make the irresistible plastic bubbles “psychologically more difficult to pop.” Currently the idea is just a prototype, but supposedly he’s working on marketing the idea to a manufacturer.

My first thought was "Oh my god, how would that work and why would someone bother!" After reading Torx's reply my second thought was "Why?" Those bubbles are fun to pop, why make it psychologically more difficult? Once we have unwrapped whatever they are protecting we should be allowed to have fun! ;)

Cuz the designer is a bastard lol. Here is somewhat of an answer to that question. This designer does some messed up things...just because he can.

“We usually have an inclination to pop bubble wrap,” says Akiyama. “But by printing goldfish I’ve made it psychologically more difficult to pop.”

It is like the supplier of public washroom fixtures in Europe that now prints images of a fly into the bowls of urinals. Apparently giving men a target to aim at reduces the required frequency of washroom maintenance....
