i found a 300 g on kijiji. It's 96 x 30 w x 24 tall. Corner overflows. Starphire front. I believe it's 3/4 glass and eurobraced inside and around the top.

What's a fair price for this? He wants 1700 which I think is a bit rich.

That's the one. How would you run the overflow and returns with the way that hole is located in the overflow. It's not through the bottom. It's in the side of the back glass?

You might need to modify the overflow box and plumbing based on the current design. I think its too small for the water volume of that tank to be efficient.

If it is in fact 3/4" with a starphire front, $1700 would be a great price in my opinion.

1700 is a good price by my books. It is probably still well below what it cost to have it custom made. A 300 gallon marineland DD tank will be over 2000 retail + taxes.

Mind you, the only hitch with tanks like this, is the need for custom stands. If thats not an issue then full steam ahead.

I'd hit him at 1400 - 1500 and see if he bites. But I bet a tank like that will get snapped up in Toronto at his full asking price very quickly. Just because you don't want to pay it, doesn't necessarily mean it is unfair.

And yes, those overflows look awfully small for a tank of that size. I'd rip those out, plug the holes on the back, and drill it for a bean animal drain.

if there is one hole in each corner, it has been designed for a bulkhead to tie into a durso drain within in each corner.
If left as is, you would have to run your returns over the top or try to squeeze one 3/4" line into each overflow box

you could keep the the current design and follow the same design that reefgeek used, check his thread.
Just would have to make your boxes a little larger to accommodate an emergency.

All involved would include drilling one more hole for an emergency, and possibly 1-2 for your returns if you didn't want to run them over the top

Definitely don't want to go over the top with the returns. I can't understand why they wouldn't go through the bottom. An the boxes definitely look too small.

Either way it can be re-worked and made into a SIIIICK tank with some time and effort and some more $.

There is also a 340 gallon acrylic tank brand new on another canadian forum for sale. Almost the same dimensions just deeper and taller. It is brand new, and has a single center overflow.

I paid $1500 for my new 300g deep dimensions tank two years back (original purchaser changed their mind about the tank and resold it), three sided starfire, corner overflows. If it is a used tank I would offer less than the current asking price.
