Buy the impeller, then you will have a backup pump, doughhead.

I have one main return pump, and a secondary (smaller) one on my display. The smaller one is hooked up to a big UPS supply, it can run that pump up to 4 hours in case of a problem. It won't keep the tank full, but it keeps it circulating. I think we had a big discussion here about generators and things like that, but maybe I will order a second main pump just to have it if needed...
The impellers is like 100 bucks. Its not like the guy sells houses.

I am getting a reeflo, re-doing all my plumbing properly, So after that is done, I will keep the current mag 24 that works as a back up. *thbbbbt*

All the rock? Ugh no way dude. There is like over 300lbs in there. When I sell the house in a few years that tank is staying. I'm not moving it again.

Maybe I'm wrong but don't the danner mag drives carry a 3-5 year warranty?

Most warranties don't cover moving parts. Impellers aren't usually covered under warranties because little bits of sand and gravel can scratch the heck out of the impeller and render it useless but the pump would still work. Now if the pump died and the impeller wasn't seized usually things like that are covered. But for shits and giggles if I were Tony I would call the manufacturer and see what they might do for him.

allways e-mail manufacturer first either they will send a replacement free or tell you where to find them... hydor has sent me 4 covers and 2 impellers totally free and reef octopuss sent a new impeller as well when my magnet cracked :)

It's a good idea to always email the manufactures. When sum thing breaks you bought brand new I have got replacement parts from aquatic life for my light New covers for my koralia power heads a new pump from reef octopus a new pump from wave line I email the manufactures direct instead of where I bought it from

I called today, they said without a receipt they will not warranty the product. However, if I mail in the entire unit, they will do a one time "goodwill" gesture and look at it. No promises. *shrug*

Mailing this thing to New York State might not be the most cost effective way to go about it. It is quite heavy....

Sure just don't try it with ANY vertex stuff. I have twice and neither time could I get the time of day from customer service. I was asking for parts breakdowns so I could order replacement parts and got jack shit for info or replies from them. I don't care how good or bad vertex is they will never get any of my money again.

wow talk about not standing behind their products.... sounds like a tail light warranty "once they see your tail lights warranty is over" hydor and reef octopuss didnt even ask for a receipt. I e-mailed a pic of what happened and what model number it was. Only response i got was replacement parts have been shipped priority and 3-5 days later package was at the door

I wouldn't expect a warranty unless I bought it new, And even then it would have to be bought locally so you have someone to talk to if something happens to it. Buying used is buyer beware, Just me I guess, Thankfully I've been pretty lucky other than that Vertex skimmer.
