Hello all i thought i would share a easy cheap way to remove aptasia.

I have a small pencil torch that i use high quality cigar butane (atleast triple distilled) so there is no residue left after burning.

This will only work if there is no coral on the rock obviously!

What i do is burn them and scrape them off,and for good measure i re burn the area the aptasia was attached to.
This way the rock does not even lose any life the only thing that happens is the coraline dies on the spot where the burning takes place.

This has worked for me every time and they do not ever return.

I have never had any heavy aptasia problems only light ones.

ps it will smell like burnt hair so do it in a well vented area

I always wanted to try the laser method. But I wonder where I could get one of those lasers that are strong enough. And the debate on what it does to the glass....

I'd be concerned about bringing it in across the border and potentially having it confiscated.

I'd much rather buy local. Have you ever borrowed your brothers and tried burning aiptasia with it?
