Do 29g Biocube’s Work Well?

My wife and I are thinking of setting up another nano tank in our kitchen.
We’ve seen a few 29G BioCube tanks for sale on Kijiji, but wondered if they work very well.
If any one has one or knows someone who has one, could you please give us an idea of their performance. Lights, filtration and what types of coral will survive in these cube tanks?
Any info would be appreciated.

I loved my 29 gallon JBJ Nanocube. I upgraded the lights from PC to LED and it was a beautiful tank. It was my wifes favorite tank. I have 2 links in my signature, however they were linked to photobucket before all that crap went down. I will add photos later. I really liked it. Super simple and low maintenance. I did not run any skimmer or anything, just a heater, lights and 5 gallon weekly water changes.

My 29 gal bio cube was low maintenance I ran a black box led light over it with a heater and a skimmer ran lps coral and some sps no issues and a 5 gal tank under cabinet with a Ato unit and great setup

If you buy one used just check it over well make sure it is a newer model and not retrofitted lights make sure they work and the hinges on the lid and such aren't broke. Great tank as long as you don't get a beat up scratched one.

Sounds like both of you guys took off the stock lights. Should I assume the original lights can’t handle soft corals/leathers?

Easy maintenance sounds like a positive. That’s what we’re looking for on this build.

When did the newer model start? Not sure I would know the difference. We only just started looking at these cubes as an option.

I had one for a couple years.
It was the older one with cf lights so I changed to open top with a Chinese black box.
About 2 months ago I came home to find it had split top to bottom on the rounded front corner. No idea why it happened as it had been in the same location the entire time and nothing had changed. No pistol shrimp in it either.
All that being said I enjoyed it and found it relatively easy to take care of. I didn't use a skimmer or a sump and just did weekly water changes
Looks like it was longer than 2 years since I just saw my join date and it was my first salt water tank
