Hey guys!

Im looking into getting back into the reef aquarium world after a long hiatus between moves and kids and a new job. I was just curious what the biggest tank you guys have gone with in a living room above a basement ie. joist floors. Any input would be great.

Thanks

Hi

Biggest I've done on joist floors is 6 foot. 8 foot and longer were always on concrete.

If basement is unfinished you're laughing... Just put up some ugly jack posts (footings are important too)

If you have a choice set the tank along an exterior wall (what with the way houses are built)

Same, I've only ever done a 120 on joists, and it was right up against a supporting wall with I-beam. I would also suggest a base that spreads the weight out evenly, instead of only on the periphery. I moved my tank to the basement not because of weight worries, it was after a couple of floods :)
