So what's a good name/quality/output return pump?

I'm kind of tired of the fish-street quality pumps, so I think I'll finally buy a real one that I can up my return flow by quite a bit, maybe even automate changes in flow. What might work?

I need to move water into a 125 at a head height of only about 4'.

0 complaints on my Vectra M1. Especially after I calibrated it through the Reeflink. If you are looking at Ecotech equiptment for the build, then I highly recommend the M1. If you aren't running Ecotech products, then maybe they're is a better option like the Maxspect Duo. With its customization options, low power consumption, quiet and small footprint, I really feel it doesnt get the recognition it deserves

Well I'm using a waveline pump that's supposed to do 2800 GPH and it barely makes a wave in the tank...so I'm either throttling it (1/2" return line), or it's just old. I also have a 100W fishstreet pump, which has almost exactly the same output (and horrifically bad construction quality). So I might upgrade the return to 1" and then go from there. It seems that a 2800GPH would be able to just up the return pressure in a thinner line, but maybe not. Either way, I gotta upgrade, it's like a tidepool in there.

(not a huge fan of ecotech, the 'cost + sound' quotient of their MP lines have really put me off)

Well it is just the Ecotech cost now. The new Vortechs and Vectras are pretty well dead silent.

Running a M1 which is dead quiet. Also have a MP40 which is also dead quiet. I'm very happy with them and plan on upgrading my 75g to Ecotech equipment.
