Craziest Thing You've Done For Larger Tank

As stated, I believe I am embarking on the verge of crazy, of course I am looking for someone to agree that it is not. My tank is in the basement, conveniently located near a drain and sink etc, however I am land locked to about 6 feet. So after long discussion with GF, well really just me whining about reefing being my hobby and the rest of the house is hers to do with as she pleases, in order to gain more room I bought a tankless water heater, thus freeing up the space occupied by the water tank. This will be installed Friday, second phase of my plan is to move the furnace to the opposite corner of the basement room and there you go, will have the space for an 8 foot tank. Makes sense right?

Great ideas, exactly what I would have done if I didn't buy a house to suit my tank plans;)

I'm basically relegated to this area as the GF runs a home daycare, so circumstances call for extreme measures, well extreme to some normal to me.

No walkout, I got the 60*24*24 downstairs by myself, then got it on the stand, I'm rather bullish when I have something to get done.

That said, I think I would go acrylic

1 piece of small advice. Make sure your new water heater is a 2 pipe system (fresh air intake, exhaust). This will stop it from drawing the air for combustion from the house. Tankless water heaters are bad for plugging up and using that humid salt water air would be bad long term for the equipment. Same thing applies to your furnace if its only a single pipe system.

Thank you! The installer did say 2 pipes would be coming in/out of the house, I had him downstairs in the room, specifically to ask him the question around the aquarium.

ordered tank from calgary, payed movers to move it into the house, installed a beam in the basement, cut a huge hole in our bedroom wall for plumbing had to run 2 other tanks for a year for hypo-salinity and rocks n stuff, all on very non disposable income... all pretty crazy to me..
