Hi all,

I have two ocellaris clowns and the one is forever chasing the other one around  :'(. Particularly when they spot someone walking in the room. They are both the same age (3 months) and were placed in the tank at the same time. The one is slightly larger than the other and that is the one that keeps chasing the other. The victim does not appear to have any torn fins or physical harm and is still eating like a pig. They used to sleep together every night, now only once every few days and they have been in the tank for about three weeks now.

I have read that it is usually quite bad when the clowns are similar in age and that this is normal behaviour, but I thought I would check what all of your opinions are... Also the victim has stopped dead in its tracks on two occasions whilst being chased and spun around to face the other, then they both just hover for a few seconds and go their separate ways???

Thanks for the help guys & gals.

One showing dominance towards the other. The bigger one is chasing the smaller one ? If that's the case this would be the female showing the male who's in control, will probably see that happen for a while.

If that's not the case you have 2 males and one will kill the other.

Nope it's always the 1 that does the chasing... Thanks for the response, I thought I would double check. I will just wait it out then.

lol.. thats what they do... if they were serious.. you would know it.. they fight like rabid dogs..

That's a relief!!! The one who does the chasing does not really connect with the smaller one she just chases. Only bitten him once that I have noticed.
