I really wish the powder reagents for both the phosphate and phosphorus could somehow be added in a liquid form. Like their alkalinity. Makes life 1000000000 times easier.

for sure, ALK is so friggen easy to use

Yea no kidding! I've been saying this since I started using the phosphate checker. Do you guys put ur final vial with reagent in it into the checker and then hold the button to start countdown or do you start countdown before having vial in? It has shutoff automatically on me a few times now when I've been too slow....I remember when I first got it and I just got all the reagent in and was reading next step when it turned off..... I swore some Hanna designer was laughing at me that day.

:). It did shut down on me for the first time, too.

I get everything ready. Package opened and formed like a funnel, vial wiped clean, lead open. Also I get the timer ready on my cell phone. I put the vial in and press once, shows C1, then press again. When I see C2 I hit the Start on the timer, so I can see where I am with the time. Put the reagent in, tear the package and if anything else is left I put it in, too. Shake gently until I see the time is about 2 minutes and 40 seconds. Put the vial in the checker and press and hold to show the 3 min countdown.

I agree, the powder reagent in that package is a pain. Liquid or a small hard container with powder (like a 1/4 tube size), or powder pressed in a pill would work better for users.

For me, I think that I get the water samples from a wrong location: in the sump, between baffles. Convenient in my setup, but sometime I may get micro bubbles from the skimmer. The shake will keep them in vial and if they get stuck on the inside glass, the reading may be influenced.

Time for update. I got a new test kit for Nitrates. Performed two tests back to back and I got readings of 0 and 0.2 ppm, so basically it is at the lower limit of this Salifert NO3 Profi Test Kit.

It looks that Chaeto works good for my system. It does occupy about 8% of the available overall volume and the refugium lights are ON for about 12 hours. I am happy with the results.

I have a very healthy Refugeum and have started running Pellets at half the recommended amount. My tank is doing very well, No Nitrate, minimal Phos, but I'm still running the Pellets.
