Calcium and alk

So I picked up my first corals today. I was told I would prolly have to dose. I have not tested yet. But when I do dose do I turn pumps and powerheads off?

How many corals and how bugs the tank? There is a good chance water changes will be sufficient.

All I have for corals is frogspawn, favia and mushroom. And it's a 29g biocube

Water changes will be plenty if your doing them weekly/biweekly.

What's you're calcium and alkalinity at now ? Test it today and the same day next week and see how much you dropped this will give you an idea on what you need to start or keep doing water changes to keep up.

Calcium is at 420.. Is alk kh?

I always shoot for around 9. My frag tank is actually 11 which is too high. My dt tank is 8.4.

my understanding is anyone from 8-12 is acceptable..

i do know when i was slacking mine dropped down to 5-6, and i didnt experiance any losses, just absolutely no growth...and very little polyp extension, but i wager if i left it that way then i might have seen some die off

I target for around 8.7 dKH, 450 for cal and 1300 mg.

my DT the mag was a little low for the first time. Im going too start dosing a little bit of mag. for a while also. Will recheck in a few days.
