Blue Live Rock?

I got this piece from big als in kitchener cause I like the shape of it. Little did I know it was INFESTED with vermatid snails. Anyhoo, I've bleached it and now I'm in the process of drying it out, but holy crap! It's blue!

I didn't notice when I first got it but after sitting in bleach for a day it's really easy to see to colors. The tips where it has chipped off you can really see it. Anyone know what this is???

That is blue elephant ear coral. Very nice piece and sot after for jewelry. If you got it cheap, you could sell that for a ton of money.

Not sure about the common name "blue elephant ear coral". Did a search in google and I couldn't find any pictures of it. Just something like a mushroom... But you know how it is with common names...
I know for sure is dead Heliopora Coerulea or common name "Blue Ridge Coral" or just "Blue coral".

I have it in alive in my tank and I thought is sps but it's not, it's a soft coral (just looks and feels like sps).

Blue cats paw, try that one. Its the name i know it by. It is wanted as much as the black coral is.

Heliopora it is. I wondered about the tiny holes but it now makes sense after reading about it.

The thing still reeks of bleach. I got a feeling it's gonna take a while to dry out. All those holes probably sucked up a good amount of bleach.

Drop it in ro water. It will aggressively absorb the bleach, then dry it out again. Also faster to leave it near a window and let the sun cook it.

Also I failed to kill off the vermatid snail problem. I crushed a few more shells to see what was inside and the snails are still in there. Fml. I'm thinking of taking my portable stove outside and boiling the live rock.

I'm going to head to goodwill tmr to find a pot large enough to fit this rock into and cook the little bastards to death.

don't stand over the pot if you do decide to cook your rock and not in the garage, definitely outside, people die from doing that, saw on another forum the other night about a death from cooking live rock. I wonder how long it would take to bring the water to a boil in this frigid zone we are in right now LOL
I'm surprised the bleach didn't kill them. Sure they aren't dead inside their shells? Gorgeous piece of rock !

Also, if you are having problems getting the bleach out then soak it in some water with Prime in it. That will at least neutralize the bleach so that it won't be harmful when you put it back in your tank.

I know that breathing in the vapors can be dangerous. I'd have my garage door open while I do it.

Some people say crazy glue the little bastards in but I have way too many.

Time to cook some snails.....
