Best Skimmer For 100 Gallon Any Boxing Day Deals?

My Old Skimmer that I picked up isn't working so well and I'm contemplating picking up a new Skimmer approx. for a 100 gallons will be using it on my 60 cube. I can go in sump or external I have it plumbed for either.

I love the eshop 100 gallon skimmer but I'd use that or the reef octopus (another reason I love the eshop the collection cup is massive ! )

I really like my OCTO 110Sss (Reef Octopus).

Hard to say if they will have a sale or not, I know one time the guy at Big Als mentioned something about MAP pricing on one of the skimmer manufacturers I was considering. (Coralvue/OCTO)
I guess that is why their sales generally suck, just crap and consumables that are little use to the seasoned aquarist. Don't get me wrong, the stores are decent for livestock but their sales are pretty underwhelming. (As demonstrated by their current boxing week flyer, big yawner)

But, if you can live without getting it on sale, the OCTO 110ss is a really sweet skimmer that would work well on a 60 gallon. I purchased mine from reefsupplies.ca in Quebec.

I am leaning the 110ss or the curve 5

Ya the Curve 5 is great as well according to reviews. I forget why I chose the OCTO, probably the 7-8" operating depth matched my sump perfectly, while the curve 5 is supposed to need a little deeper sump,(9"-10"?) although I'm sure it can be tuned a bit as I have read of users using the Curve 5 at 8" depth.

Also I think the OCTO has a slightly smaller, or should I say different footprint. In my case every 1/4" made a difference as my skimmer compartment is only 7 3/8" x 8 3/4".

Curve 5 - ~7 1/4" x 7"
Octo110ss - ~6" x 7 7/8"

Anyhow I'm very pleased with this skimmer, it is for all intents and purposes silent. I like that it is an AC motor, I feel I just don't need to give up the reliability of an AC pump for the adjust-ability of a DC pump in a skimmer application. (Although the new DC offerings from Coralbox piqued my interest, I went the more pragmatic route with the AC pump)

Either way, I probably would have liked the Curve 5 too if it fit.

can never go wrong with a reef octopuss. alot of people like their swc as well so whatever one would fit your space better is really the only factor between the two. also with reef oct or swc you can pretty well get replacement parts anywhere.

Called them cause i need a new impeller for my swc. They only sell coral life skimmers right now

I tore the Skimmer apart and cleaned it like I do every month or so and than ran it for 2 days in a bucket of water and a good amount of Vinegar. Then after about a week the damn thing started to skim better than it ever has since I bought it!

my vote is for either the Reef Octopus (run 2 of them) or the Curve 7 (have one on the 75g) love them both...
