ATI poping GFI

Has any one had this Problem with there light fixture popping there GFI outlet I can't run 8 bulbs at a time in have to turn two on first (timer). Half hr  later other 6 run and the other two go off if I run all 8 it pops I have switch bulbs around does same thing even on reg outlet it pops

I actually did have this problem (was my own fault).  I had taken off one of the silver side covers and when I had put it back on there was cable I pinched to the point the wire was exposed to the metal.

You could take the side plates off and check the wires...

However, since its a brand new light I wouldn't even open it.  Send it back to the store you bought it from, let them figure out why the new light they sold you doesn't work properly.

I have 2 fixtures. 48" 6 bulb ATI (does not pop gfi) and a 48" 10 bulb ATI (does not pop gfi)

Whether they're is a GFI inside the fixture or in the ballast itself...it doesn't do you any good if you have only a certain amount of plugs at your tank and they happen to be GFI for your other equipment so you don't kill yourself or harm your family.
Therefore only solution is a new fixture. Definitely do not open it, they will probably tell you that you have now voided the warranty.

Just to  confirm......so when you plug into a non gfci outlet it will trip the breaker at panel? And when you plug into a gfci outlet, it trips the gfci? Sorry just want to confirm this.....

Good question, could just be a faulty GFCI, or one that can not handle the load. I have had a few power bars that trip under even a small load, same as the GFCI in my bathroom, but once I replaced it, all was ok.

I have never had a problem its a 4 month old home and I ran my mh off it as well 3x 250 watt bulbs and all my other supplies off it

Ya somthing not wright I have to run two half hr before the 6 come on the. 6 go off the other two come on at night. I was told RUn them like 15 min apart when turning on that way not so much of a fire up on gfi and see if it will run all 8 like that then at night the 6 go off and two stay on till 9

You should be able to run all 8 no problem and turn on and off either ballast at any time..... I can do this no problem with my dimmable sunpower.....is it only tripping the gfci recept? If so then it is very likely the gfci because they can become faulty.....

He has said he has tried an extension cord into another gfi and it still trips. It's clearly the light. Like you said, you and many others have no issues like this. He should be able to run all 8 on/off with no problems.

Same where I am stuck in Windsor how do I check gfi make sure its working properly?  I dont think its gfi at all never had this problem till the ati maybe a short in it somewhere

find a bathroom with a GFI and test it in that plug, my first thought was faulty GFI also.

Is there more than one gfi on the cct? Should only be one. Not sure if tgat will explain this but I had 5 min to kill.

There is only one gfi on the cct its on its own breaker had it done just for tank

I have pluged in to a nother Gfi and it poped as well when inter home going to try something and see if it works in have set on timers on and its seems fine I run 6 out of 8 two come on first as the blues then off to 6 then two on at night
