apex jr. or apex sr. or apex fusion?

If I buy the jr. will I only regret not spending the extra and get the Sr.? Is there not More equipment on the sr. version?

If I'm going big? Then why not all the way and get the new fusion?

I've been seesawing back and forth on getting a controller for a year. But do I really need more than the jr.?

Apex Classic.
The Jr does not support enough modules. The new Apex has bugs to work out.
Buy a used unit and start looking for a DOS, breakout box and extra EB8.
Just my experience......

There are 3 versions.

Apex Jr
Apex Classic
Apex (new 2016 version)

Fusion is the cloud based program that controls an Apex. All 3 of them use Fusion.

Jr has major limitations. Apex still has lots of bugs they are working out. I see major issues posted every day. If you are going Apex, go Apex Classic

Break out box is used for switches such as float switches for ato or high/low water level warnings.

Thanks everyone. So classic is the way to go. I figured as much, with all the reading people with the jr. always ended up buying modules and extras that in the end sounded like the paid more than just getting the classic.

But then the fusion is the latest form of the classic but not everyone is happy with them.

Fusion is not a Apex version. It is the program that runs all 3 different versions of Apex. Like Windows is in all types of computers. (Other then you Apple freaks lol). No matter which Apex you select, you will be using Fusion 99% of the time and it is great. 100x easier to program then the old interface.

Really all depends on what you wanted to do with it.
All accessories can be added later too. Usually the basic pkg is enough to hot the road running.

Well I was hoping to have a sweet tank like you have in a few year Eric and that's a huge investment that may need more functionality that I can see now. I have an ATO, Powerheads, 3 Channel doser that I am not currently using and to get the temperature monitor would be big, I feel the temp is swinging but only by feel of hand.

My return pump has a feeding mode that I assume I could control. any other water parameters I can monitor.

I have Apex Classic. I have purchased 2 extra eb8's and a VDM for my tank set up. I have a DIY break out box module that I have still yet to set up.

Most people are good with just what is included and grow from there. Start by making a list of what you want it to do and how many power plugs are involved

First off. You don't need an Apex to have a successful tank. I only got one less than a yr ago.

Depending on your main pump. You may need a cable to control that. @TORX would be the man to speak to about that.

The unit will come with a temp and PH probe. Also a power bar to control upto 8 plugs (more if you're cheap like me lol).
That should be plenty to control temp, doser, main pump, skimmer and a few other things.

Unfortunately not. Only the DC version is controllable. But you can still do a feed mode through the Apex with the pump powered by the Apex EB8. Actually I run 3 feed modes with mine all for different lengths for different reasons

Get a breakout box, for sure. One of the things that I find great about the Apex is it's ability to monitor water levels and alert if something is out of whack. That takes float sensors and the BOB.
Or, you could always make one like Torx did.
But that is the one thing I would not be without.
