You need to go to address http : // apex

No spaces.

If you aren't getting a ping your router isn't seeing the apex... Are you sure cables good :)

Best help is from tech support, send them an email and they'll get u up and running.. If u can see the apex on your network but can't connect it could need some outside help.

It shouldn't load apex site, it should prompt you to login. Then you would see apex dashboard once correct credentials entered.

This doesn't work always.. More often than not.. He can obviously see it via his router..  Cause he said he knows the ip address.

I'm not much help, however;

I access the apex with : http://tank/status.sht

The ip of the apex changes when it reboots, but I think it started with 192.168.0.10 and went up from there on the last digits.  I do believe I had to hook up a laptop to the network controller to get it to connect initially, I just used one of those little game hub things.

I'm pretty sure I followed the directions on the apex user guide.  If you don't have it (I assume you do) it's here: http://www.neptunesystems.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Comprehensive-Reference-Manual-.pdf

Oh didn't know it doesn't always work. Always has for me. His unit is probably telling him an IP address on head unit. If there's no response from a Ping test there's no connection.

It works for u because u named the connection in the router apex... Just like Salty named his tank.

I am getting the IP off the head unit. It does not appear in my router :/ but it is on the same line as my main PC.I unplugged my main PC and am using that ethernet, so I know the cable and connection should be good.

You can assign a static local address to the apex and it won't switch the ip anymore.

Yep just pick a IP address for the apex outside the DHCP range on router.

Another stupid question, do you have a home network setup where maybe your internet connection goes to a switch and then you have cross over cables going from switch to computer?

Kk.. Well you need the  be able to see it in your router as another connection, just like all those other pc s and probably phones, tablets.. Etc et. Try a reset on the router and the apex and see if that works.
