I bought a second hand apex classic with EB8 and display module. I knew it was not functional when i purchased it. Previous owner tried updating and power went out. Now i have messed with everything, this is what i have found out. The display works as i connected it to my existing apex. The EB8 also works as I connected it as well.
The head unit is another story. I power it up and the status light goes green, however when i plug in the display it is blank. I figure this is the part that crashed while updating. I've tried reading online but didn't really find anything out on how to fix this. I cannot get the IP address of it because the display wont work. ANYONE have any ideas what I can do to fix this?

If you just want to find out the IP i can help with that. Download a program called softperfect network scanner. Once installed you will see a section to type in some numbers.
Most networks use 192.168.1.1 which means range would be from 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.255
It will tell you if anything is on any of those ip's.

If 192.168.1.1 doesnt work you have to go to your start menu and type in CMD. Then type IPCONFIG and hit enter. IPv4 is the number you want, Like i said should be 192.168.1.1

The apex would have to be plugged in over ethernet for this to work

Hope that helps.

do you have a router? if you plug the apex into a router and login to the router you should see all the ip addresses connected to it.

looked at the settings of my router and it only shows my original apex connected. Starting to think my head unit is bad. Although it shows a green status light.

Unplug everything but the unknown apex then reboot the router then power cycle the apex

keep the router plugged into the internet wan port and plug the apex into a lan port

all you would do is change the numbers to 192.168.2.0 -> 192.168.2.255

Sounds like finding your IP isnt going to fix this. Going to need to arrange a tech call with neptune, seems like it died somewhere in the update process and isnt going to be findable. Theres a chance you can flash a new program to it but I wouldnt be able to tell you how to do that.
