Alk Swings And Dosing.

So it possible to keep the alk constantly the same without a doser or is there always going to be some sort of swing going on? As of right now i seem to be bouncing between 7.8 and 8.1.

I dose alk daily in the early mornings. I only test my water about every two weeks and it always seems to remain the same.

I use very small amount of alk daily and considering my water volume. I'm sure it only boosts it by about 0.1 I'm sure a doser will really keep things stable. But I don't seem to be having an issue with my daily manual dosing.

As of right now im normally dosing in the morning and at night.3ml each time.. but j did miss the test and dose last night.. im trying to test three times a day to see what i need to do..

Yeah im normally dosing 3ml once in the morning and once at night. And im trying to test 3 times a day to see what i need to do to keep it stable.

Normally. You test on day 1. Then don't add anything for three days and test again on day three. What you tank consumes in the three days devided by three will give you daily requirements

Man, I am going to chime in here just because.

I made my own Alk solution from the Randy Farley/something guy. (OK)

It works great, too great if you do not have your proverbial 'shite' together.

I began manual dosng. Cool. Unfortunately by the time the week ended I shot my Alk from 7.9 to 10.2.!!! My PH rose from 7.9 to 8.4. FFS, YIKES I said to myself.

Know YOUR tank personality!!!!

I pushed my system so out of whack in that one week it made me sick!!

Long story short, I have learned my system through MANUAL dosing that when I get my auto system running I can set BUT NOT forget.

TEST, TEST, TEST when you are trying something new.
