So my tank is just about cycled, maybe a couple of days. My Phosphate is too high for Corals but what about one fish, I know it won't hurt the fish but when I start feeding the fish, will I get Algea blooms on the rock?

Re: Question of the day

fish can handle higher phosphates than corals and ur going to likely go through the algae blooms anyway. It's pretty much part of a new tank. Once it cycle is done 100% do a good size water change and that will help bring down the phos depending on ur water source.
What are ur levels at and do u run Gfo?

My level is high and it's due to my water source, .40 is pretty high, I'm not running anything at the moment but I will start running GFO today, I thought I'd get through the cycle then look after the Phos. source, I need a new RO membrane in my RO/DI unit

Well I guess the Wc won't help much for phos then but still is needed after the cycle. I can use high cap Gfo and get those levels down a little quicker. With no corals I don't think it'll cause any harm to rapidly remove this phosphates. Someone else may be able to Chime in on that one though.

My tank has been cycling since Sept 14th, At present 0 Amm, .25 Nitrite, 10 Nitrate It's doing its thing. My Phos. is .40 mainly because of my top off water. I'm gonna change out all my Filters. Get my Phosbon reactor on line with High capacity  GFO and I'll get the Phos. down before I ad anything. I'm ok with waiting.

IMHO you are going to want to wait until your nitrites are 0

That shouldn't be too long, Do you guys think I need to seed the rock with Live Rock or will it be ok. After the Nitrites are down to 0 of course.

the tank is cycled once the nitrites and ammonia are gone with nitrates present, there is nothing to seed

Yes I know that, what about Copipods and critters. Should they be present now that the cycle is done. Update Amm 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 10. . At this point I was thinking about putting in some flake every few days to keep the bacteria up. What do you think?

Re: Question of the day

You might add a fish or two. Your tank is cycled as far as pods go buy some pods or find someone that has a tank that is plentiful and steal a piece of rock from them

+1 a rock from someone's sump with no predators of pods would probably be best.
