acclimating several things at once

I was just watching a video on acclimating stuff.  In it, the guy had several bags and dumped them all together to start the drip process.
I would never do that.  There is no guarantee that the temperature, pH, Nitrates, etc are the same in both bags... especially if they are mail ordered.

I got a bunch of stuff from Brandon a while ago and even though everything was in the same tank an hour before, every separate bag got its own bucket for dripping.

Am I being overly cautious?  What do you guys think?

Over cautious, your just lowering the temp a bunch leaving them to drip acclimate. I used to do the same but unless it's a star fish there really is no need.. I float for 10 minutes and then they go right in.

I float for 10 min, then fill the bag with water from the tank and float for another 10, then put them in, Discarding all the water.

float the bag in the tank for like 20 mins. then scoop them out with the net  so im not dumping there water in my tank ...corals get same. floating but they gonin coral rx first

i do... well almost.. i add a bit of water every 10 min or so over an hour or so, fish and corals.. if they came from the same tank i might do them together if its easier..

I dripped all my tangs,  but the rest I just use a turkey baster and add tank water to the bag evrry so often for an hour. Then just scoop n drop. But the first time you loose a fish from shock,  remember this thread cuz I am sure the first comment will be tge importance of drip acclimating. LoL

all fish i just mix in a bucket of half their bag water and half my tank water, wait 20 min or so then drop them in..
i do keep my salinity lower in my frag tank so the stress is less on them.

but for most corals unless the water temp difference is extreme i just drop them in.

I drip all fish. Corals are floated and then put in rx then into tank

That's interesting.  I would think it more important to drip corals since they don't have a circulatory system.

For corals, I float them for at least 20 minutes to ensure proper temperature and then I dip them in Coral RX, rinse in some of my water and put them straight into my tank.

As for fish, I float them for at least 20 minutes to ensure proper temperature and then I use the "blending" method. I keep them in a container with the water they came in and add about 1/2 a cup of my display water every 10 minutes or so. Once the container fills up, I dump half out and keep adding my display water every 10 minutes. Eventually, the container is full of solely my water. I then net the fish and put it in my display. Takes about 2 hours of acclimating.

I think I'm going to do it this way from now on, but in the bag floating in the tank.  In the past, after the drip, id put them back in the bag and float them another 10 minutes to bring the temp back up.

i would strongly advise against adding someone elses water to your tank. IMO thats really not a good idea

I've done it with out any problems that I know of, One thing I'll say though I am very cautious of where I buy, If someones got Bubble Algea or Hair Algea I most likely won't buy anything

that sort of thing your not going to avoid imo, ill buy the stuff but its removal is factored into the price.
if your tank could grow hair algae, it would be there already.
