I am not thrilled aboUt leds yet and want t5's. I think in the next 5 years leds will be proven and more powerful and cheaper and last for sure for a certain time?

I think a mix of led and t5 is your best bet..

2-4 retrofit t5s and some leds up the middle..

But for zoas and mushrooms leds alone will he just fine on their own.

Unless you want to do a full SPS tank I wouldn't bother with t5. It sounds like your interest is shrooms and Z&P and they are not really demanding when it comes to lighting. I have inexpensive full spectrum LED'S on my frag tank and have fantastic growth with both high end Zoas and shrooms. If I wasn't also keeping Acro's I could raise the fixture much higher and get huge coverage. Inexpensive to buy...no need for bulb replacement...and low hydro usage.

T5 would work fine, hell anything would work for them. Even a PC. LED definitely the future. Very cost effective and usually programmable. I'm not sold on them but then again I love MH.

I like the kessils becase i want to use the gooseneck mounts. not interested in hanging from the ceiling. if anyone knows of a 6x t5 that has legs and will fit a 90G please let me know

I like the maxspect razor too. Would the 43.5"W, fit my 48" W - 90G. Is there anywere in Canada I can pick it up?

I love the Razor as well. The only thing I didn't like about them was they didn't promote Coraline. That may be with all LED and their may have been other factors but you can't go wrong with T5HO. Lots of bulb choice and the bulbs are affordable.

coraline is growing very well under LED.
The main difference between LED and T5 is the price.
For LED we invest money once for 5-10 years (until new technology come).
For t5 we invest it every year.
Let's see fixture:
- LED for $110 48W http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/blue-lumi-lite-strip-led-reef-brite.html
- t5 for $105 55W https://www.amazon.ca/Hydroponic-Fl...&qid=1492620399&sr=8-7&keywords=grow+light+t5
t5 maintenance: $25 per year per bulb
LED maintenance: free
Would say price/quality nothing can bit LED now.
If money is not a problem, for high end light, would go to combo: MH + T5.
The price would be about $0.5 per watt per year.
So for 90g tank we need about 400W of light = $200 every year just to change bulbs.

I had switched from T5, and although I loved the controller and less heat. I,m back to my T5 light. Supplementary LED is great but I'll stick with what I know, for now any way.
