Do 40 gallon breeders really bow? I was going to get one but after doing a bit of research I discovered a bunch of threads saying their breeders bow a little...

All glass bows a bit IMO. I have a 40 breeder as one of my tanks at the moment. I do not see it bowing any bit that's noticeable. And water line is up to top.

Not sure why a 40 breeder would bow more then a Regular breeder as it's more Shallow

What are the dimensions of your breeder? Is it a 36X18X15?

I really like the dimensions of the breeders though. Is yours used as a main display?

0 reason for a 40 breeder to bow, unless it is that cheaply made. I can not see the one I saw at petsmart ever bowing. I almost bought it myself and kicking myself for passing on it.

Mine is those dimensions. I paid $1/gallon. Petercar picked it up for me at petco. It is used as an fish holding tank/frag overflow tank

Thanks for the replies! I think I will just order one anyways and give it a go. IA has a great deal on them! Only $88 with tax! I also couldn't believe what I was reading where people were talking about noticeable bowing... Most say they were the aqueon brand...

Great tank, it should have a middle support, but it's true all tanks give a bit. perfect tank for a sump

Not using it as a sump, I am actually downgrading so will be using it as a display at eye level in my basement. I really like the width and how shallow it is.

you're right its a good size for a display,
It would make a sweet sump thoughas you said. would have so much room and wouldn't have issues with trying to get equipment out of it. Could even stick a little frag area in there... Hmm now I am tempted to sell my 20 long and buy another 40 breeder!

I bought a 40 breeder for a sump and then it just sat in the corner until I just about gave it away to Pulp. they are a good size just like a 75 rather than a 90, Shallow and wide. Wish I had that 40 now, but then again I got a great Sump sitting in the garage.

I once bought a tank from a guy that had it in the middle of the room, all 4 sides visable, was awesome
That would be an excellent idea! Would need a dedicated room for it though which would be a challenge. I bet I could even drill the bottom of the tank as none of the panes are tempered. I am quite curtain that it won't fly with my old lady though haha
