Which Circulation Pump?

Woke up this morning and found my Hydor circulating pump had bitten the dust over night. I seem to only get roughly two years out of any Hydor pumps although maybe the new third generation Hydor will be better.

So I need a new pump, but with so many options, which one should I buy?
My tank is a 90 gallon with a 30 gallon sump. I intend on growing mainly SPS corals.

I still have a Hydor ( third generation ) in the back lower corner of my tank so I am looking for a pump for the top of my tank.
I looked at the Vortech MP40wQD, but at $499 is simply out of my financial means.
The AI Nero 5 wave maker sounds interesting, but at $330 is it 3X better than the Jabao OW-40 which retails at $130 and will the Nero 5 last 3X longer?

I'd love to hear opinions on what pumps do the best job for the money.

Buy once instead of twice. If you buy a Jebao it will bite the dust then you will buy the mp40. Buy the mp40 from the start and you will save money. If you ever choose to sell it, an mp40 fetches around 70% of its retail price used. A Jebao has very little value.
A couple options:
Maxspect gyre
Mp40
Tunze
Nero 5

Nothing wrong with buying used if in good shape.

I have a MP40 on my 110 gallon and love it. It's dead quiet and a lot of adjustments. I also have a Nero 5 on my 60 cube. Again, love it. Works great and only have it at 40%

I currently have a mp40 and a tunze stream 6105 on my tank. The tunze is pretty much has the price and preforms just as well plus is adjustable in terms of which way it’s pointing . I definitely reccomemt the tunze and when it’s time to replace my mp40 I’ll be getting another tunze

I’m curious, how many years are you guys getting out of a Vortech, Tunze or any other circulating pump?
As I mentioned, I’m only getting around two years out of Hydor pumps ( l’ve owned four of them ).
Should I expect more years out of the higher priced pumps or just better circulation?

My mp10s were from 2015, never had an issue and no sign of them going bad. Mp40 was 2015 as well. Sold it to someone in 2017, bought it back earlier this year. Again nothing has been replaced and still working like the day I got it. There are plenty of older model mp40s still kicking from 2013. If you maintain them you should get 10 years in my opinion. You will likely sell the tank before you need to replace the pump.

My mp10's are easily 4+ years old and I bought them used. I was told they were about 2yrs old when I got them.

My mp40 is used as well and it's been going strong for 3yrs now.

Haven't needed to replace any parts on any of them. Just regular cleaning.

I used to own hydors and will never go back since owning vortechs

I’ve had a couple Jebao Powerheads. Won’t do that again.
I’ve had 3 stop working.

Mp10 and Mp40s have been going strong for 3+ years as well.
Worth the price in my mind.

Jebao move a lot of water and are cheap but be prepared to replace them annually. You may get lucky but they don't boast about longevity.

Apex WAV are okay. I had a set when I ran an Apex and over all I was quickly underwhelmed after the new toy high wire off. Shortly after selling off my Apex I started reading a lot of issues just outside of warranty.

Only other pumps i have used are Votrec MP10wES, MP40wQD and MP10wQD. I found the old vortecs loud which is why I kept buying Jebao. The new QD series is absolutely amazing. Mine are matched up with a Vectra M1 and Radions for lights with a Reeflink and I couldn't be happier so far
