Any one getting Salinity spikes.. i have been noticing my salinity jumps up after few days to a week..
Keep it at 1.025 but goes up to 1.028 - 1.029 levels.

Auto top off works consitent and no problems there..

Thoughts..

How long are you mixing your saltwater for before adding it to tank? Possible not totally dissolved when adding? And continues to mix in tank?

Unless you're skimming really wet, I would start looking for a leak... that doesn't sound good.

Edit: just realized what I said doesn't make sense. Scratch that.

Not with salt water mix as it stays mixed for more than 24 hrs before i get on with water change..

It scientifically impossible for salt to go up without adding salt unless your ATO is not working aka evaporation. I have seen people accidentally add NSW instead of RO/DI to their top off before. Sounds more like there is a faulty reading.

Thanks Torx but none of these are potential culprits here. ATO is topping precise RO water. Even checked salinity of ATO reservoir just in case. All ok there.

Refractometer is precise with the readings as well.

I would be looking towards that being the culprit.

Individually test them, i would guess that your alk/ca/mag are probably high, if not then i got nothing :D

Did you take a test sample from near a dosing outlet that possibly had just gone off?
