Angry With New Lights.

Well the 2nd Evergrow D120 arrived finally.
It looks exactly the same as the other and the lighting pattern is layed out the same.

They look different from side to side. Now I'm not sure if it's because 1 is brand new giving off a bright white. And the other gives a softer white. Blues are exactly similar
I can make them look close by adjusting power.

Does anyone else have lighting similar to this? I'm hoping its that the new leds will soften a bit after they heat up or age? 1 light was ordered on Ebay with the last tank and ordered a new one out of Canada for the new tank.

I have them cranked to show the difference. I'm wondering if I should take off the optic lenses. I don't need the depth penetration.

one has nothing to lose,if its just real noticable on high like that dim them to where they are even,tank looks good

One of the Canadian retailers had on their site that they had revised third fixtures to higher Kelvin whites due to customer feedback. So different batches could be very different looks.

Great to know. But too late now lol.

Looks like a Kelvin issue for sure. :/ Who knows how long or old the one was from ebay before they sold it. Hopefully with some tinkering and when mixed with blues, it will be less noticeable

OK optics removed and leds adjusted. Hopefully this works.
Please don't mind the photos there on my cell phone taken sideways to get the whole tank and I'm not adjusting white balance so we can see the color accurately.
It's better than before but still a minor difference in person.
The camera takes much nicer close up pics. So hopefully everything grows evenly.

LEDs do have a break in time as well so could be the new lights need to be broke in

I'm hoping so. I find leds to be really bright and dim slightly over time. Like I mentioned 1 is brand new the other is older. I think there going to be alright I'll just have to adjust them. They do look better without the lenses as they are set close to the tank surface.

I've got some lens in and some out in my led pot lights kinda get the best of both

They are sealed in the units and not close enough for splashing or salt. They are mounted In my canopy. The bottom of the units are sealed as well.

Also have found that running LED's at full pop right away will shorten their life. Do not take them over 80 percent and only go higher as age sets in as they do dim. Better LED's seem to last a good three years doing the above.

Unfortunately LED's have a lifespan. Still better in that regard compared to MH as well as that bill at the end of each month.

I don't run them on full. They are around 60% . Ran them high for the pictures but they are reduced now to see what the corals like. I have both adjusted to look the same now. Removing the lenses was the best thing for my tank.

Sounds hot. When I begin my new fixture build the lenses will will be factor big into the design.

Coral expansion has been really good since I pulled them. I was getting "spotlight" effect in areas of the tank with them on.
This is only just above half. I can crank them to bring the Kelvin up if required.
