This week we started another stage in the beta. They opened the Android Beta for Mobius which means it is much closer to being released.

For those of you who may not know about it, the new controller eliminates the need for a Reeflink. The devices connect directly to your phone much like other lights apps out there only with many more options. It can connect to all you Versa, Vortech, Radion, and Vectra pump together. It has been an amazing experience so far. All new Ecotech products are Mobius ready. Most products released in the last year or so are ready. Some G3 Radions and some first release G4's will need to purchase a new RF chip. It takes just a few minutes to upgrade the chip. If you have a Reeflink, you can check the devices RF module there. If it is 2.*, then no other upgrades are needed. You can also open the device and look at the RF chip. If it is black, then you are good to go.

I have been using it on Apple iOS for a while now and I am absolutely amazed. Huge step over Reeflink for sure. They are still a few months from releasing it though. When they do, it will start with primarily control for the Versa (Ecotechs modular dosing pumps) and shortly after they will start to release updates to be compatible with their other equiptment. That allows them to address any existing user upgrades in an organized fashion and overall better experience. I am happy to answer any questions you might have about it. Keep in mind that it is still under development and constantly having new features released.

So Mobius is pretty much out for all equipment now.

They have been rolling out support for legacy equipment and plan on having all accounts updated by the end of the July.

Generation 5 Radions currently ship with Mobius firmware onboard and now some users will see their Mobius app allow them to update compatible older model Radions as well. As of July 31st all Mobius users will have access to Radion legacy updates.

Here are a couple tips if you upgrade to Mobius or roll back to ESL.

To accomplish firmware changeovers effectively please be aware/utilize the following.

  1. Expect firmware changeovers to take roughly 10 minutes per device.
If updating make sure the device has the correct hardware to update - review EcoSmart Live under the devices tab to identify this.

  2. Follow app instructions and remove devices from EcoSmart in your profile, then factory reset devices. This will reduce the likelihood of interference when performing the update/rollback.

  3. Make sure your smart device will be able to remain in wireless range, is powered/has battery and will not shutdown/lock screen during the process.

  4. If your smart device can receive phone calls, put the device in airplane mode and then re-enable Bluetooth. This will prevent an incoming call from disrupting data transfer during the process. You should not exit the app for any reason during a firmware change.

  5. Be patient - some parts of the process may take several minutes and some devices may take longer than others. Also the leds on the device may flash a lot during the process.
