What Would You Do?

Let's play the what would you do game...

So I finally decided to add some fish to the 125, a dogface puffer and a Niger Trigger. Well very shortly after that the tank got ich. I've since lost the puffer, and both clowns (very upsetting). The yellow tang and Niger Trigger are still fighting the ich like champs, between soaking their food in garlic, using polyp lab medic and doing water changes I'm hoping these two can win this battle.

But that's not the point of this post, you see now that I've had some disappointments, I've been doing a ton of research and looking at possible future tank mates (obviously once everything has settled down).

What fish would you put in a 125 gallon that currently houses a yellow tang and a niger trigger?

Edit:

Three choices...remove all corals and inverts and treat the whole system with Chloroquine phosphate to eradicate the ich or remove the fish and treat with Chloroquine or copper in QT...or no new additions of any type for 11 months at which point the ich will have died out...

...otherwise every new addition will be infested with parasites which they may or may not survive...each new addition will likely add some fresh genetic material to the ich colony, rejuvenating it causing a fresh outbreak amongst your resistant inhabitants and resetting the clock for the ich colony...

...another perfectly reasonable option would be to remove all corals and inverts...add a few new fish and the Chloroquine and cover treatment and QT all at once....

....regarding fish choices...will this be fish and softies or full reef, invert friendly (the Niger will not be invert friendly...but snails and crabs etc are optional...not necessary)???

I would go with setting up a hospital tank for the fish or ask at your local fish store if they can keep them for you for 2 months while you go fishless and let the ICH die from starvation also I herd ginger powder works you can get it in the spice section
Good luck

Also I would be very carefully with medications because they may kill your live rock

Thanks for the replies so far.

The reason I went with The polyp lab med is because it's supposed to be DT safe.

Eventual choices will be fish and softies.

So if I keep the two fish in the tank, treat them and they beat this, I shouldn't add anything for 11 months. But I can keep these two fish in the tank for those 11 months?

Anything other than Chloroquine, copper or deep hypo salinity is also ich safe...lol ie essentially ineffective.

IMHO removing the 2 fish to a qt tank and treating them is the best option, ie. what if while you are treating them they develop a bacterial infection....its cheaper and easier to treat and do water changes on a smaller tank. it's also easier to keep an eye on the fish because their is less room to swim and hide. your main display will need to be fallow for at least 72 days.

Your clean up crew can not get ich... no need to quarantine them... but certain ich remedy can kill the cleanup crew

What are some other containers I can use for quarantine instead of a tank? If there are any.
