It's getting to the time for me to buy more salt.  I wondered what the most popular kind was.  Please post yours and help me gain some perspective.

For ceasar rimmed glass or reef tank?  I use IO,  probably the most common used salt followed closely by IO Rewf Crystals. But only buy what you need.

What makes a salt awesome?  Do you actually see a difference?

[/quote]I do see a difference.  Parameters are more stable. The salt mixes a lot easier.  Also with Salinity they tell you with each batch what the parameters are out of the pail. For example it says my current batch of salt has calcium at 422 ppm and my magnesium is at 1336 ppm. I have tested this and find that they are pretty bang on for what they write on the pail.

Edit: I do also see a difference in coral. All the sps frags I have, have great polyp extension.  The coral with most of the softies in the tank seems to be more vibrant.

Also the salt mixes to 1.026 when you follow their direction which is great for a reef tank.

Here is a picture to see what I mean.

Instant Ocean here as well.  That Seachem Salinity sounds pretty nifty though!  I always have a tough time mixing my IO to exactly 1.026 because the instructions are for 1.024.

I use Red Sea Coral Pro but will probably be changing as I started bio pellets and the alk with this salt I think is 12.3-12.7 dKH and I need it lower

I should have enough to last me till boxing day.

And I will be buying many, many boxes of salt to make sure I have more than enough for the year.

That's the way to do it, I buy salt once a year.

Makes the most financial sense. It is 100% something we all need regardless of brand. It is essential to our tanks above and beyond everything else.
