Leathers can be subject to some sort of fungal rot that just eats them away. Try a fresh water dip or iodine dip. If that doesnt work out cut out the fungal piece like you would if you were fragging it.  Hope it makes it

Also perhaps, more water motion as well as will most likely help.
I would personally do some water testing also.
I have found that when leather corals like Sinularia sp. have the sclerite skeletal structure showing and falling off, it typically indicates low magnesium and/ or sulfate in the system.
It could be an ion antagonism related issue, meaning your major ions are out of ratio with each other.....

I would still recommend taking a surgical blade and rid of the fungas. It may only spread and destroy the whole leather.

Just my 0.02    :)

Just the bad part.... have you fragged softies before?  same idea other than you want to dispose of the bad section.  Better to take softie and rock out of tank to do so. less pollutants

Is it actually infected or is it just shedding?

What happens if you blast it with a turkey baster?

I use to have a good sized umbrella leather that would go through different stages like the picture then look fine after a few days. It might be normal, but you would know your coral best and its history.

If it's the same tomorrow, I would cut it, I've Fragged a few in the past and I would cut the out sides leaving the center about the size of the stock, discard the bad part but you could frag the rest, When attaching to a rock use an elastic, secure but not tight, Good Luck

Just a question
Aren't toadstools toxic ? If they decide to die don't they take the whole tank down with them?
