Hey everyone just trying to get an idea of what im dealing with, its had it for a few weeks now but will go away for a day or so then come back again. Some of it looks kinda stringy on its face. Thanks guys.

My fox face gets marks the odd time like that. I have never worried about it and it seems to always go away.
As long as he is eating and active. I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep an eye on it. A lot of these things take care of them selves.

I've never owned a PBT but have read thousands upon thousands upon thousands of threads or articles online and there is not really much you could do..... It could be from grazing (scratching its face/mouth on rocks or other things) or it could be a small parasite or disease (they are extremely well known to be vulnerable to this as I'm sure you are aware).... But at the end of the day if it's eating and acting normal then I wouldn't be worried because once a PBT falls seriously ill, good luck trying to turn him around anyways.... A quarantine will stress them out extremely and I think there are pretty poor results from anyone trying to stop a PBT from eventually deceasing. If it is grazing heavily I would say that is a very good sign of good health....is it grazing?

Actually due to breaking my own rules with QT and new additions my PBT has been treated for Ich twice over the years. And I'm not talking a few stress spots. Full outbreaks that killed other fish in my tank and covered him with spots until he was too weak to swim away from the net. (thank goodness for my fish trap now if I ever get it back from Yangman lol) and once for worms. Six weeks in hypo for the Ich each time with the tank fallow and a couple weeks in QT treated with Praziquantal for the worms. With everything impossible to treat in a reef tank, I have learned my lesson about prevention.

QT is far less stressful than what these fish go through to get to our tanks. They are the survivors. I really think that people prefer the myth that QT is so hard on fish because QT is a lot of work. Not that I rush to treat or QT but when I am confident it is the correct course of action for the fishes well being then I go ahead and do it and usually wish that I had done it sooner when I see fish recover rapidly with proper treatment rather than making them try to fight off a disease themselves.

Yeah as far as ive noticed its been grazing, acting normal, i feed themn2-3times a day frozen PE Mysis soaked with garlic extreme and then dried seaweed, and he never turns any of it down. Yeah qts have always been unsuccesful for me, probably because it wasnt executed properly. Id hate to try and qt him and have it die due to a bad qt tank.
