What Could Be Eating My Pulsing Xenia ?

I picked up a frag of pulsing Xenia on Saturday at the coral reef shop and put it into my tank to acclimate.

Today I took a look and it’s almost completely gone. A little bit of flesh still attached to the frag plug!

I have 4 clown, 2 cleaner shrimp, 3 emerald crabs (picked up same time) a lawnmower blenny, and a potters angel. I might still have a peppermint shrimp.

The pulsing Xenia is not coming back but am curious as to who would have eaten it.

I have a pair of clowns, lawnmower blenny, emerald crabs, 2 cleaner shrimp, and a peppermint shrimp my tank,
everyone seems to ignore my xenia, (its is also very slow growing in my tank)

If you need/want another piece of xenia, i can cut you off a small bit

Thanks for the kind offer.

I was surprised as well, I sure hope it’s not a hitchhiker. I think I need to wait and see if anything else gets eaten

Is it being eaten or just dying back. If anything its likely the angel nipping at it. If you do find something is successfully feeding on it Im sure a few would like to know. Its like a weed for some.

It was only a frag but a good healthy one. I only had it 3 days and then bam it was all but gone only some flesh left on the plug. Looked at it the next day and the plug was clean. It could very well be the angel. I had some zoas for over a year slow growing stuff always open but only like five or six heads. I was away 2 days came back and those zoas were gone but three other types inches away had not been touched. I figured the angel since I added it about a month before
I done see the angel nipping at other corals not that I have a ton of coral.
