Wave Maker Suggestions

I have a 60 gallon cube 24*24*24

I had a W8 jebao on one side and two hydro 425s on the other side.

The jebao was great at the beginning more flow than I could ever use. But after about 6 month the flow seemed to diminish even after a good vinager bath.

What’s your recommendation for a wave maker/ pump?

I really don’t want 5o spend a fortune but I also don’t want to have to buy a new one in a year and a half.

Thank.

Hahaha quite the response you got :D That being said i think you made a good choice in the nanostream from tunze. Just a heads up though regarding it, you gotta keep the impeller fairly clean, it has almost a built in slip into it that if it has any drag on the impeller that the shaft will spin inside the impeller. That being said after a quick cleaning it was working great again, i love how you can angle the flow in almost any direction you want.

Admittedly I have only run jebao and vortec. Both of which where outside the search guidelines. One lists on their website even that they need to be replaced yearly and the other falls to 's fortune' category. When I had a 60 cube I ran a mp10qd. But it was a seahorse tank, not reef. A single mp40qd would most likely have sufficed on this cube. A 40 and a 10 would be perfect.

I was experiencing the same thing with my WP10. I took it apart and clean the impeller/magnet, and in the shaft area. Runs like a champ now.
Vinegar bath didn't do much.

I tore the jebao apart every time I would clean it approximately every three month. It worked like a charm for over a year. Then just stopped. I tried the airline tube replacement trick that’s in an online video. I can get a magnet field in the jebao but I couldn’t get the impeller to turn on it’s own.

The tunze is very nice little wave maker, I have some great wave action happening now.i have a frag of gsp on the other side of the tank about three inches from the bottom and I have the waving motion. Which is impressive because it’s being blocked by major rock and kitty corner to the wavemaker.

Do you have any other wave makers in the tank? I have a gyre and WP10, but if I can get away with 1 nanostream... that may be the way to go.

I’m pretty good with flow now. I have more options on water movement .

Thanks again everyone.
