I'm looking to set up some RO/Saltwater storage.
About to buy some Brute cans, but want to see if there are better maybe cheaper container options locally?

What do you all use? where did you get them?
Cheers.

Just be sure whatever you get is food grade or you'll have a billion PPM of phosphates in your water.  I unfortunately learned that the hard way.  Usually white containers are phosphate free, but def not guaranteed.  Only way to know for sure is to fill one up, leave it a week then check for phosphates.  I had a blue rubbermaid tote that was putting .80 ppm of phosphates into the makeup water!!  That gets hairy pretty quick.

I think we have been down this road , these bins dont leach as much as you think ... especially not a Billion PPM

It was def a topic of discussion on reefcentral, seemed to be more people reporting that the brutes didn't leech phosphates, than those that said they did.  The only real way to know for sure is to test.  I just wish there was a nice cheap source for the big white food grade containers, but they're pricey even at places like tsc.

This is what I used to do as we'll. I did buy a big container to store water in but I think it is leeching something as the water stinks like chemical warfare lol.

I never thought to test the the water before, I been using a 20g rubbermaid. But I'm done with that nnow, I have a 29g I'm going to use. Nothing can leak out then.

I've used the grey rubbermaid brutes from Rona for a couple years now without any noticeable, detrimental effects (knock on wood).  Just rinse them out well and wipe down with vinegar when you first get them to make sure they are clean.
